A machine attached to the wall winds up a cotton string which pulls a stool accross the room. As the cord is pulled, it streaches and tension builds up until the stool lurches forward and emits a scraping ring. The room is about 10 feet long, and it takes the machine 6 hours to pull the stool across the room. Mixed Media Variable. 2001
